Well, it looks like I may have a job for the summer at Juniper, one of Ottawa's best restaurants in my humble/inexperienced opinion. I interviewed with the Chef on thursday and he's having me come in on monday to try me out and see what he'd like to pay me. Juniper has a really interesting eclectic menu that changes gradually every night till it makes a complete switch about every 6 weeks. They serve all sorts of food from around the world, when I told the chef my experience was mainly with classical cuisine he laughed and said "we don't do any of that here". That suits me just fine, I want to learn interesting and exciting food, not just the traditional stuff no one eats anymore. Anyway, I think the job will be mainly prep but should include a bit of everything considering the small size of the kitchen. The money's gonna be crap ($8-9/h) but the experience will be invaluble. That's what I'm after this summer anyway so it works out nicely. The job will be full time for the first 8 weeks or so and then slim down to part time for the last 2 months. Again, this suits me just fine, gives me some time to enjoy my summer and visit Emily in Montreal a bit more :)
Let's just hope I don't cut myself or someone else come monday, ack! Stress!
That's awesome!! Good luck on monday....
