Garden Growing

Hey all, Kyla, thanks for posting in my absence and welcome back. I've been in the process of moving to Toronto and starting school. While satisfying my infinite appetite for procrastination I came accross the nicest little garden center a few blocks from my new place. There I bought a hot chilli plant and a rosemary plant to add to my small potted herb garden consisting of 3 types of basil. I also planted some jalepegno seeds, thyme and grapefruit seeds as the ones I planted over the summer died from neglect, hopefully this time I'll be able to keep my eyes on the prise, whatever that means. I think all I need now is mint to really cover the basics, emily's old landlady has a whole bunch in her yard so maybe I can go over and steal some.

As I've said before I love the idea of filling a restaurant with plants and although I don't think we'd be able to grow enough in the actual dining area to sustain the needs of the kitchen it would still be nice to have herbs used in the cooking filling the dining room with their wonderful aromas even if only for show. We could purchase those used in the actual cooking or perhaps grow them out back depending on location and climate. (The Greenhouse Restaurant?)

I start cooking again at school tomorrow so I'll probably post here to tell y'all about it. Toodles.

i've been thinking that i want to grow herbs indoors this winter too.. do you know if they can be kept alive all throughout the cold months if they get enough light? and is it possible to start from seeds at this time of year? i have the least green of thumbs, but i would like to give it a go (except i also have no clue where to buy seeds or plants in montreal this late in the year).

that would be great to have fresh, aromatic plants in a restaurant! it would be cool to have greenery all over, especially in a city that gets horribly grey and depressing in winter.
